Draft material

This manuscript contains i) a German translation of 'I Seraillets Have' ii) a translation of the original Danish into French iii) autograph draft signed 'Fritz Delius' and dated '1894', pianoforte version with Danish words, iv) an incomplete draft (ink) of the previous item v) a pencil draft of a different setting of the same Danish text vi) two copies of the Danish setting with English translation in the hand of a copyist.

Published score

The song was first published as part of the collection Fünf Lieder für eine Singstimme und Klavier (no. 2), with English words (translated from the Danish by Delius himself) and German text by Jelka Delius. This collection was reprinted by Universal-Edition, Vienna, in 1921 and by Boosey & Hawkes in 1949, and was included, with some corrections, in a collection of songs by Delius published by Boosey in 1977.
