Composer: Frederick Delius
Author: Emanuel Geibel
Dedicatee: 'Madame la Princesse de Cystria'

Setting of the first three quatrains of Emanuel Geibel, ‘Lieder als Intermezzo’, XXXVIII. Curiously, the song has no subsequent publication history after its first appearance in French translation in 1896 until inclusion in the Collected Edition (1987). Thomas Beecham suggested that the song had been performed in several countries, but was withdrawn from circulation by the composer for reasons unknown (see RL, 122).

Composition: 1888.

Text incipit: 'O schneller mein Ross, mit Hast mit Hast!'
'Plus vite, plus vite, mon cheval!'
