This setting of Jacobsen's 'En Arabesk' (?1868) dates from 1911. The English translation of Jacobsen's text was undertaken by Philip Heseltine, possibly when Delius was living in London in 1915 (RT.1986, 40). The autograph score sets the German words translated by Jelka, to which the English setting was later added.
