This manuscript contains a pink manilla folder, labelled by Eric Fenby 'Sketches. Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano. Spring 1930'. This folder contains material in the hands of Delius, Jelka and Fenby, described in detail in RT.1986, pp. 154-7: i) 1 bifolium headed 'Sonata' by Jelka, draft of first movement in Delius's hand, ink and pencil; ii) similar draft in pencil by Delius, with some rejected material; iii) Fenby's draft of the first movement in ink and pencil, with numerous pasting-over, crossings-out and alterations; iv) Jelka's notation of the start of the second movement, followed by Fenby's sketches for the first movement, some rejected; v) Fenby's pencil draft of the middle section of the second movement; vi) Fenby's complete pencil draft of the second movement in its final form; vii) various material for the third movement.
