The second set of songs to German translations of Norwegian texts, dedicated to Nina Grieg and originally published by Augener. The ordering in publication was changed from 1910 and the new ordering is used in the Collected Edition. However, here the original numbering is used to maintain consistency with the autograph score and with Threlfall's original catalogue. While the entire set were composed for voice and piano, Delius later orchestrated two songs ('Abendstimmung' and 'Eine Vogelweise') at the request of Olga Wood, who performed them in 1908. Details are given in the catalogue records for those items.

Published with German and English words, using the translations by Archer (no. 1) and Grist (nos. 2-7) found in the autograph manuscript. This edition was reissued in 1899 by the Concorde Concert Control, and by Breitkopf & Härtel after 1903. 

Re-engraved edition

Tischer & Jagenberg, London 1910.

Tischer & Jagenburg re-engraved the songs and issued them, with German and English words, in three separate collections: i) Drei Lieder. Dichtungen von Henrik Ibsen (nos. 5,7,1); ii) Drei Lieder. Dichtungen von Bj. Björnson (nos. 3,4,6); iii) Heimkehr. Dichtung von Aasmund Olav Vinje (no. 2).
