This work remained unpublished and unperformed in Delius's lifetime, only brought to publication as part of the collected edition, although the existence of a separate violin part with bowings suggests a performance may have been contemplated (RT, 161). The manuscript is undated. While Philip Heseltine's date of 1888 is generally accepted, Threlfall suggests the work may have been completed in 1890-1 (RT.1986, 92).
