This manuscript contains a variety of material relating to the sonata: i) sketches for movements 1 and 2 in ink and pencil, with many deletions and amendments; ii) fair copy of the completed score in the hand of Philip Heseltine, dated 1915, the publisher's Stichvorlage; iv) Stichvorlage of the solo violin part bearing Arthur Catterall's editing in pencil and blue crayon and possibly in his hand; v) second copy of the violin part, bearing many corrections and pasted-over revisions. This item is in the same hand as the copy of the autograph score held by the RNCM, the additions and amendments added in other hands; vi) proof copy of the printed score, stamped 'The Property of Sir Thomas Beecham'; vii) copy of the printed score, stamped 'The Property of Sir Thomas Beecham'; viii) another copy of the printed score.

The archives of the Royal Northern College of Music contain i) the autograph score, with the music corresponding to p. 15 of the published score on a separate inserted sheet and the last two pages of MS rewritten on a separate sheet and ii) a copy, probably in the hand of R.J. Forbes, bearing the same insertions and amendments in the hand of Jelka Delius (see RT.1986, 102).
